From 1995 to 2001, the rail system witnessed a consistent escalation in user numbers, exhibiting diverse rates of growth. The most pronounced spike was recorded between 1999 and 2001, where the count of passengers reached its zenith at 300 million—a 50 million increase since the commencement of this interval. Following this peak, the figure experienced a slight dip to 280 million, maintaining a plateau until 2004.
In terms of punctuality, 1995 saw 92% of trains running on schedule, but this figure dwindled by 6% over the next two years. The ensuing years witnessed some instability in this rate, oscillating between 85% and 94%, with the latter representing the apex of punctuality. Nonetheless, the final year of the period marked a steep descent, plummeting to 72%.
