The two pie charts illustrate the variations in transportation preferences among individuals commuting to a university for employment or academic pursuits in the years 2004 and 2009. The data encompass five distinct modes of transport.

It is apparent from the charts that automobile usage significantly declined between 2004 and 2009, while other means of transportation became more popular. Furthermore, cars and buses were the most predominant methods, whereas walking and train travel were the least favored.

In 2004, upon closer examination, automobile commute constituted the majority, with 51% of individuals opting for this mode of transport. Bus usage followed at 33%, while a mere 9% relied on bicycles. Train travel and walking were even less prevalent, at 3% and 4% respectively. By 2009, however, the situation had changed dramatically. There was a 13% rise in bus commuters, while the percentage of automobile usage decreased significantly to 28%. The proportion of cyclists grew by 7%, and both train passengers and pedestrians increased moderately by 4% and 6%, respectively. These figures underscore the shift in transportation preferences over the five-year period, with public transport options garnering increased interest among university commuters.
