The table and charts below give information on the police budget for 2017 and 2018 in one area of Britain. The table shows where the money came from and the charts show how it was distributed.

The table details the sources of the police budget, while the pie charts depict how it was allocated, both between 2017 and 2018 in one part of Great Britain.

Overall, the total police budget recorded an upward trend, with the national government being the most significant funder in both years. In addition, the majority of the funds were used to pay officers and staff during the time period.

Upon a closer look at the sources, in 2017, the police had a total budget of £304.7 million, which rose significantly to £318.6 million in 2018. The majority of this money was sourced from the national government, with a slight growth from £175.5 million to £177.8 million. Of all sources of funding, local taxes saw the largest growth from £91.2 million to £102.3 million, whilst other sources constituted £38.5 million in 2018, £0.5 million higher than the previous year.

Moving on to the funding distribution, expenditure primarily consisted of officer and staff salaries, although the proportion registered a decline from 75% to 69%. On the other hand, spending on technology almost doubled from 8% to 14%, while outgoings on buildings and transportation remained unchanged at 17%.
